Filament Games rocked our world last spring when we invited 100 seventh and eighth graders and their teachers to play games for the day with the team from Filament.  They brought 10 people to support the learning, and the highlight of the day was the career panel.  It was so amazing for the students to see the number of careers at play within a company that creates computer games.  Also, over the summer, I took 25 teachers to the working space of Filament Games, and they gave us a tour of their space including the sound studio, classroom, and co-working spaces.  Many of the teachers took some of their design ideas and applied them to their classrooms. This organization is top notch, and I am happy to have Brandon on the show.

Brandon recommends The Game Believes in You as a book necessary to read in an effort to understand what games can do for learning.

Filament Games Product Info

Studies have shown that games help improve achievement for students, especially students who struggle in a more traditional learning environment. Games inspire learning and discovery, and it allows students to be able to replicate things that would never be possible in today's classroom. For example, in the Filament Games title Cell Command, a student shrinks down to microscopic level to complete missions on a cell ship navigating through the body. They work to complete vital functions to keep cells healthy.
